Give Big Kern 2018 Raises Over $230k for Kern County Nonprofits
On May 1, 2018, Kern County, California, celebrated its third annual Giving Day, Give Big Kern 2018.
“The third annual “one day to celebrate the giving spirit of Kern County” exploded as it did thanks in great part to the effective application of communication technology, including responsive web design and the use of multimedia and social media to appeal to donors.” – Louis Medina, Kern Community Foundation (Bakersfield.com).
Hosted by Kern Community Foundation and powered by GiveGab, the mission of this Giving Day is to grow community and philanthropy by supporting nonprofits throughout Kern County.
Giving Day Results
Last year, Give Big Kern 2017 brought in $143k from 1,396 donors.
This year, Give Big Kern 2018 raised over $231k from 1,778 donors for 119 nonprofits!
Give Big Kern Prizes
This Giving Day made use of the power of prizes again this year to help encourage heightened engagement and support!
Give Big Kern Prizes included:
- $1,500 for the organization with the most donors
- $500 for the organization that raised the most dollars
- $1,000 for the organization with the most volunteers
- $500 for the most volunteer hours pledged
- $1,000 for an organization whose board members donated
- $200 for the organization with a donor from the farthest away

Topping the Leaderboards with theMost Raised at over $20k was Independence Through Grace!
Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue topped the Leaderboards for having the Most Donors!
