Supporting Your Community Online During A Crisis
On July 22, 2020, we partnered with the Nonprofit Learning Lab for a live webinar about Supporting Your Community Online During A Crisis, co-hosted by Kyle, our Director of Civic Engagement, and myself, GiveGab’s Associate Director of Civic Engagement.
In this presentation, we took a deep dive into what is changing in the fundraising space over this past year, and how your organization can continue to grow and adapt your engagement strategies to reach your supporters where they are – online!
Over the last several months, organizations of all shapes and sizes have had to think outside the box on how to sustain their mission and continue to engage their communities without the help of our regularly scheduled in-person events and fundraisers. And while pivoting your strategy is certainly no small task, many of our partners saw exponential growth when they decided to host an online fundraising event instead.
Throughout this featured webinar, we discussed how our GiveGab partners have found success in their online engagement during these stressful times including:
Hosting a Virtual Giving Day
Giving Days are 24-hour (give or take!) online fundraising events proven to drive engagement and increase dollars raised through urgency, collective marketing power, peer influence, and strategies like matching gifts and gamification.
Check out our case study highlighting The United Way of Rhode Island and how they were able to raise over $1.3 Million for their community through 401Gives, a Giving Day that took place on April 1st amidst the uncertainty of COVID-19.
Putting a Virtual Spin on Your Next Event
Every organization’s fundraising efforts have been impacted due to COVID-19, especially if you had been planning a large in-person event or Gala. Consider taking things online instead of canceling or postponing to continue engaging with your donors.
Although in-person benefit concerts were not able to happen this year. Through a two-hour musical live stream event, A Night for Austin, long-standing Enterprise customer, Austin Community Foundation was able to raise funds for several organizations operating in the Austin community.
Being the Philanthropic Leader for Your Community
Host a centralized Community Giving site for crisis relief & beyond. Connecting your supporters with actionable ways to make a difference throughout the year is possible with our year-round Community Giving sites.
The Billings Community Foundation repurposed their Giving Day site, Yellowstone Valley Gives, to serve as a regional COVID-19 Community Giving platform. With a goal to raise critical funds for nonprofits throughout the Yellowstone Valley, they were able to raise over $6.5k.
Leveraging P2P Ambassadors to Expand Your Reach
Harness the fundraising potential of your most passionate supporters through utilizing peer-to-peer (p2p) functionality. Your p2p fundraisers can bring in additional support through their family and peers, people who otherwise may not be aware of your cause. More about peer-to-peer fundraising on GiveGab can be found here.
