Summer Fundraising Ideas that Inspire Giving
In the summer months, spirits are typically high and activities are in full swing, making this time of year ideal for hosting outdoor fundraising events or cause-based campaigns.
You can get your supporters excited about what your nonprofit is working on with these summer fundraising ideas with real-life examples.
Host a Summer-Themed Event
Barbecues, wine tastings, and pool parties are fun event ideas, but they won’t inspire giving if they don’t truly resonate with and help to promote your cause. Incorporating fun outdoor activities that align with your campaign mission takes time and creativity, but can be a lot of fun with a very positive outcome when done right!
A great example of this is ReJunevate Support, an event held by Ithaca Children’s Garden at the beginning of June each year. This fun, adults-only, outdoor event is held at the organization’s three-acre garden where there are games, along with food and drinks, to keep the adult and child in everyone entertained!
This year’s ReJunevate event is happening on June 8, 2018, and will feature garden games like croquet, corn-hole, badminton, bocce, lawn-sized Jenga, checkers, and twister! Learn more about this event here: REJUNEVATE.
Some other summer event ideas that might resonate with your organization include hosting a car wash, pool party, barbeque, wine or beer tasting, a field day, and of course, a walk/run/bike-a-thon, like the campaign example featured below.
Launch a Cause-Based Fundraising Event
If you want people to participate in a cause-based event, launching it in the summer is a pretty safe bet that more people will want to attend.
Take, for example, Great River Rescue’s annual summer event called Walk for Animals – Bark for Life. Typically held in June, this dog-walking event along Lake Bemidji encourages participants to raise money for both the beneficiaries of Great River Rescue and the American Cancer Society.
