How Peer-to-Peer Fundraising on GiveGab Can Amplify Donations

A problem some nonprofits face is when their supporters are unable to make financial contributions. One way that organizations can overcome this problem is through peer-to-peer fundraising.

There are many supporters, especially those that are younger, that want to support organizations just like yours. However, these individuals don’t have the financial means needed to make a huge difference for these organizations.

Allowing these supporters to fundraise for you can increase your intake of donations exponentially. Say you have ten supporters and each supporter can donate $10; that’s $100 for your organization. Now, say every ten supporters had ten friends who could contribute $10 each, now that’s $1,000 for your organization! That sounds really great, right?

You may be thinking, ‘Yeah, but how hard is this to set up?’ It’s actually rather easy.  The p2p fundraising functionality on GiveGab allows your organization to simply flip the switch to let your supporters do the fundraising for you!

There is a tab at the bottom of the “edit” section on any campaign or event you wish to set this up for with a checkbox allowing you to enable peer-to-peer fundraising.

Once you select this option, your campaign or event will allow your supporters to sign up to fundraise on your behalf! You may think, ‘This is too much work for the supporters. It’ll be too hard for them. How would we motivate someone to fundraise for us?’

These are all legitimate concerns. However, our peer-to-peer fundraising function is easy and fun for supporters to set up and share through social media and email! They’ll also have access to our wonderful team of Customer Success Champions whose jobs are to make sure everyone is successful while on GiveGab!

Let’s take a look at just how simple our p2p set up is for your supporters!

First, they would visit your site, maybe donate or register, they would then click the button to sign up as a fundraiser.

For campaigns, a supporter would click ‘Start Fundraiser.’ It looks like this:

For events, a supporter would start a fundraiser on the registration form. There are two ways you can set this up; you can either allow them to set it up on their own or automatically sign them up to be a fundraiser. That looks like this:

After a supporter signs up, they have two boxes to fill out. Your organization can choose to set a specific default for those that don’t have the time to change these themselves. However, for those that do,  they would set a goal for themselves and write a small blurb in the ‘Tell Your Story’ section telling everyone why they love your organization.

Once they set this up, they are then shown more tabs to ‘Make a Donation,’ ‘Reach Out,’ ‘Share Socially,’ and ‘Give Thanks.’ The ‘Reach Out’ and ‘Share Socially’ tabs are there to encourage the supporter to send this page out to everyone they know.

‘Reach Out’ gives a supporter the option to access their contacts from their email and send out an email and link to all their friends and family!

‘Share Socially’ allows the supporter to immediately send out the link to their page directly to Facebook and Twitter for all their followers to see!

Not only is peer-to-peer fundraising easy, fun, and effective, it’s a no-brainer way to increase supporters for your organization! For all those supporters that want to help but can’t write those huge checks, this is the best way to let them help!
