Kentucky Nonprofits Celebrate Fifth Annual Giving Day, KY Gives Day 2017
On April 18th, 139 nonprofit organizations throughout the state of Kentucky participated in the state’s fifth annual Giving Day, KY Gives Day 2017.
“Kentucky Gives Day is an online 24-hour annual fundraising event bringing charities and Kentuckians – near and far – together for a powerful day of action. Each year,
the event gives Kentuckians the opportunity to support causes they care about and gives Kentucky’s nonprofits the opportunity to share their amazing stories – all through one giving site and in just 24 hours! Kentucky Gives Day has raised $1.1 million in partnership with participating Kentucky nonprofits since it was launched in 2012.”
For their 2016 Giving Day, participants raised $139,040 in 24 hours with $6,200 in prizes and $36,409 in matches offsite, bringing the grand total to $181,649.
This year, in just 24 hours, 139 nonprofits raised $222,195 from 1,808 donors for KY Gives Day 2017!
Throughout the Giving Day, nonprofits with the Most Raised and Most Donors were updated in real-time and showcased on the KY Gives Day Leaderboards:

Hindman Settlement School topped the leaderboards for having the Most Raised in 24 hours!

This organization used the power of p2p fundraisers or “fundraising champions“; supporters who created their own fundraising pages to raise money on the organization’s behalf. Their fundraising champions helped bring in over $5,000 in 24 hours!
Strive Inc topped the leaderboards for having the Most Donors in 24 hours!

This nonprofit recruited matching gift sponsors to help inspire giving throughout the day.
They also included a slideshow on their giving profile:
Sponsored prizes were announced throughout the Giving Day that helped motivate the fundraising efforts of participating nonprofits and enhanced giving from supporters! You can check out the prize winners on the official KY Gives Day Prizes page.
