Cornell Giving Day 2018 Breaks Records for University Fundraising
On March 20, 2018, Cornelians came together to celebrate their fourth annual Giving Day, Cornell Giving Day 2018.
Cornell University broke Giving Day records this year:
“In 24 hours, 11,750 donors gave 15,807 gifts, raising $7,827,834 for the university’s colleges, units, departments and programs – the highest number of donors, gifts and dollars for one day in university history.” – Cornell Chronicle

This was the second consecutive year that GiveGab powered Cornell’s Giving Day, with last year’s Cornell Giving Day 2017 bringing in over $6.3 million.
Over 100 departments participated in the online Giving Day, allowing supporters to give to the areas they’re most passionate about – through giving to a specific department or organization or donating to a cause.

A series of prizes were awarded again this year through challenges to the departments that met specific criteria. One such challenge awarded $2,500 to the first department to receive a gift for the day.
This year’s winner was Cornell’s College of Engineering:

Throughout the Giving Day event, departments with the Most Raised and Most Donors were showcased on the Cornell Giving Day Leaderboards:

Topping the Leaderboards again this year for having the Most Raised at over $2 million and Most Donors at over 4k was the Department of Athletics and Physical Education.

Along with the option to make a general gift to this department, donors could choose to support a specific area such as Baseball, Big Red Band Fund, or Big Red Rowing.

The Cornell Varsity Club: Big Red Giving Day Match provided a $50,000 match to help inspire giving and improve fundraising outcomes.
