A Way to Stretch the MLK Day of Service Throughout the Year!
The MLK Day of Service is the perfect opportunity to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., whose belief in freedom and justice has made America a better place to live and to serve. MLK Day of Service (the third Monday in January) is the only federal holiday which is observed as a national day of service – a “day on, not a day off.” It empowers us as citizens to take part in the strengthening of our communities, the nurturing of our youth and the building of a brighter future.
MLK Day is your chance to join the hundreds of thousands of people who volunteer today AND throughout the year. GiveGab has asked its nonprofit members to share their plans and they have responded with tons of opportunities allowing you to start the year by making an impact in your community.
So to get you started:
- Join the 110 Challenge (Commit to volunteering 110 hours throughout 2014).
- Tell us what you did today by writing a Reflection and/or sharing photos at www.GiveGab.com.
- Be sure to share your success stories with others on GiveGab to help inspire every one of us to be more committed to our communities and making the world a better place to live.

Happy volunteering!
